Suns crash when you unplug their console terminals. -------------------------------------------------- A cable wired like this will connect your 4/330 (or any other Sun) to a dumb terminal, so that: 1. It works (the crossover bit is for that). 2. You can unplug the cable at the terminal end and the Sun will keep running (the resistor at the Sun end does that). If you never unplug the terminal, you don't need the resistor - until the terminal breaks! It is not exactly true that unplugging the terminal stops the machine. It stops when you plug it back in again! If you're reasonably lucky, typing 'c' (for continue) to the monitor prompt '>' will do what it says (press RETURN and see if you get a 'login:' prompt). Otherwise you must reboot (type 'b'). If you can get the parts, you can probably fit the resistor inside the plug; it is no more fiddly to solder than D-type connectors are anyway. You may have local wisdom or direction about tying together slightly different combinations of pins, or about this economy 3-core way to connect a terminal. I tried this with Cifer terminals, but it should work with anything.
