Having 303 envy? Unwilling to shell out megabucks for a teeny weeny (but cool sounding) battery-powered thingymabob? Want some acid? Here! Have some! The file K2K303.KRZ has four patches which try, pretty successfully I think, to imitate the sound of the Roland TR303. They are based on the tips posted by Jon Drukman (thanks Jon). It seems like the best way to emulate the 303 was to imitate its hardware, not its sound, after all. It contains four programs: - Saw 303. Classic bleepy 303. - Saw 3D303. Same as Saw 303 but with 3D effect by stereo phase inversion. Sounds really cool in the extremely low range. - Square 303. Same as Saw 303 but using a square wave. - Square 3D303. Because I love symmetry. There are lots of controllers for you to tweak. They are as follows: - MIDI ctrl #6 (Data): Note duration. - MIDI ctrl #1 (Modulation): Resonance. - Pitch: Filter cutoff frequency (note pitch is not affected). - Attack velocity: Accent on/off (on when >= ff). - MIDI ctrl #3: Accent intensity. There is also an effect (Long Chase) and a song containing a small demo riff (Too Much Acid). I'd like to know what you think of these sounds, so drop me a line if you want. I'd also like to hear what you don't think of them, but that's kinda complicated. One last thing: Please help stop 303 abuse! There are already too many pieces of vinyl out there containing just a 303 base line, a 303 acid riff, and a (probably 808 or 909) drum pattern. Techno's got much more to explore than that. Have Fun! tinskip@netcom.com - HellRaver - Peace and love. Ecstasy once in a while.
