For those of us never forgetting to pack a kite when we travel, try
telneting to madlab.sprl.umich.edu/port=3000 (to login use INFO).
This gives an up to date local weather forcast for anywhere in the US
and Canada, along with severe weather and earthquake (haven't tried
flying in one of those before) info.

I know there is one thing that comes along with kite flying... weather info:

So for those of you who like to predict the weather by yourself, you can
download some satellite pictures which are updated every 15 or 47 minutes after
the hour- It is great for those of us stuck inside most of the day!!
(Sorry to our friends overseas, I don't know how to retrieve pictures of your
country-but I know you can...)

To get North America Satellite pictures and weather maps:

Anonymous ftp to:
 vmd.cso.uiuc.edu
The images are under the wx dir (just type: cd wx)

Now the following info may be helpful:
For files like this:
	CV100918.gif  --> CVmmddhh.gif (month,day,hour)
        CI100918.gif
        SA100918.gif

where: CV means Combined (eastern & western) Visible (updated 47 minutes after
  							the hour)
CI means Combined Infrared (updated 15 after the hour)
SA means Surface Analysis and Radar Summary
These gif files are at 600x300 pixels resolution

To save time, you can download the most recent visual & infrared (1200x600
pixels) under the names CVIS.GIF and CIR.GIF. ONly the most recent images are
available, so just 'get' the one that is listed.

Note that the VISUAL images are availble only during daylight hours, INFRARED
is updated around the clock.

Look for my Magnum Opus in the pictures!
See you in the sky,
