Well this is my first offering. I get no credit for this as all I did was take a very good program (JNOS110I) from FTP.UCSD.EDU and another (WNOS4b0) from FTP.EDUGRAF.UFSC.BR, and then take a few routines from the first to put into the second. I had been using a copy of WNOS4a9 for a few weeks and really liked it. It had nearly everything I wanted, It had a FKEYS command which I liked, a COMM command to switch my TNC to KISS everytimes I ran it. It had POP and SMTP. It did not have NETROM but who would miss that ?.. More importantly, it ran under DESQVIEW like a champ. There was a ton of coreleft as opposed to JNOS who became a little crowded in there. I thought for sure there must be a newer version of WNOS by now and I started looking. I must have downloaded several megabytes of WNOS over a two weeks period and everything I got wasn't as good as my first one. Most of them did not have the FKEYS and the COMM commands ( WHY WOULD ANYONE TAKE THAT OUT ????). I ended up sending email to G6DHU who responded and told me to get his beta version (WNOS4B0), and that's the basis for this version. Well the beta version didnt have the fkey and comm commands but everthing else looked fine. It did have a dreadful bug if you used the up or down arrows to try and recall a previous command when you had issued less than 10 commands. CRAAAAASSSHHHHH !!. I fixed that by going back to an older command recall routine. So I went and bought TC++ and I did have an old copy of TASM so I thought "time to learn some C !!".. I did do a fair bit of PASCAL but my experience with C is the first 3 days of a class that I dropped out of. Anyhow. I took the FKEY and COMM commands ( Am I dangerously obsessed with these two ??) and put that in WNOS4 (put it back in as it were). Then I though "Wouldn't it be nice to be able to access this QRZ cdrom I have in here", so after a few days of pirating JNOS here it is.. It probably has a bug or two but it works here so if you can use it too, good luck to you. Another thing better about WNOS is the NICE interface, dont you hate in JNOS when you are talking to your friends in conference mode and their stuff comes in as your are typing and it all gets mixed up. None of that with WNOS. I hope to learn a bit more about C as I go along so you might expect more from me over the months to come.. The EXE and setup files including my autoexec.nos are in WNOS4QRZ.ZIP. The source is WNQRZSRC.ZIP and this is WNOS4QRZ.TXT. If you need documentations get WNOS4DOC from the WNOS directory at FTP.UCSD.EDU or if you have the QRZ cdrom look in the same directory there. The only extra commands you have now is: CALLSERVER HOST yourcall (callsign of where the QRZ server is) START CALLBOOK (start the callbook server) These two should be in your autoexec.nos file. Then in command mode you can do: CALLBOOK xxxxxx and you will get the info. The callbook server can also be accesses by a visitor to your mailbox in AX25 or TELNET, the command there is : QUERY xxxxxx. You need to have two environment variables set in your AUTOEXEC.BAT or any other batch file you use to call WNOS. These are: SET QRZDRV=D: (or whatever you cdrom drive is) SET QRZPATH=/CALLBK (This is the directory on the QRZ cdrom where the data is) Well here it is.
