The Outer Banks Stunt Kite Championships are scheduled for Oct 8-9. (The Rogallo Kite Festival is an early June event.) Both of these events are predominately stunt kite events but the folks at Kitty Hawk Kites were talking about maybe having a Rok battle this year. For specifics contact: John Harris Kitty Hawk Kites PO Box 1839 Nags Head, NC 27959 Tel: 919 441 4124 or 800 334 4777 fax 919 441 7597 Also worth considering is the Carolina Kite Fest from Oct 29-30. This is held at Atlantic Beach, NC which is farther south near Morehead City. This is much more of a single line festival than the above. The sponsors of the event, Don and Jeri Dixon of Kites Unlimited, are friends (sponsors?) of Randy Tom and the Bay Area Sundowners. Randy and Jose Sainz have appeared in past years. I don't know what the plans are for this year. I hope Gary Conway learns that he got an answer from the real thing, a genuine master kiter, concerning the KHSKC. I went to observe for the second year and feel honored to have "flown" one of Dunton's prizewinners. (I DID have my hands on the string!) I don't know how seasoned vets feel about these events, but note well that for thisrank beginner the Kitty Hawk Stunt Kite Festival has generated sufficient enthusiasm to improve the general economy by the purchase of about ten kites, a few miles of string and a sewing machine. And THANK YOU (shouting) to Charlie Dunton for the friendly advice and the beautiful works of art in the sky. A real pleasure. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Sun, 23 Oct 1994 16:23:43 -1000 From: rock@netcom.com (Anne Rock) Message-Id: Organization: NETCOM On-line Communication Services Subject: Re: NC Festival in October?
