Sture, Opening Hours of the Kite Museum: 11:00 - 17:00 Closed on Sundays & Holidays TEL 03-3275-2704 Though I have no idea where to recommend you for the best location to fly your kites and to meet other kiters, I'm sure the guys there will provide you the needed info. Otherwise, try A & F Corporation, one of the AKA member merchants at: 1-1-9 Okubo Shinjuku-Ku Tokyo TEL 03-3209-7575 FAX 03-3209-7250. Hope you will enjoy your stay in and will go home with the good memories of both kite-flying & business from Tokyo. May you have an early opportunity to come over to Osaka and/or I go to Helsingborg someday! Have a nice trip, Masatoshi -- Masatoshi Otsubo, Greater Osaka, Japan E-mail: otsubo@aoba.iijnet.or.jp/TEL: +81-725-573451/FAX: 573441 Tokyo is merely a capital, whereas Osaka is a C-I-T-Y. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 6 Oct 1995 11:16:23 -1000 From: dgomberg@ednet1.osl.or.gov (David Gomberg) Message-Id: <4546b7$qub@ednet1.osl.or.gov> Organization: Eastern Oregon State College Subject: Re: Kiting in Tokyo There are several active groups of kiters in Tokyo, depending on whether you are interested in traditional Japanese kites, general "single line" flying, or sport kites. Space is limited, but enthusiasts have found flying areas along the riverbanks and flood plains. I didn't see the original posting, and am not sure what you're looking for. Try Modegi-San's kite museum (address and phone in the previous posting). Mr. Tsutsumi is the curator. You might also contact the All Japan Sport Kite Association office (03-3495-4120) or call Tomas Sasaki, the AKA representative (492-46-2657). One way or the other, you are in for a treat. The Japanese are wonderful hosts and gifted kite artists and fliers. I've been there 13 times and am proud to say I have more friends in Tokyo, than in my home town of Otis.
