				Theorist

Theorist is a symbolic algebra and graphing program designed for the
interactive investigation of mathematical relationships.

With Theorist you can make interactive 2d and 3d graphs of equations
that can be translated, rotated or zoomed in or out interactively.
The graphs can be programmed using a nonprocedural programming
language, and feedback is quick as the graph redraws as you change it.

Theorist also is an environment for direct-manipulation algebra. That
means you reach out and move expressions around with the mouse. Expressions
are entered and displayed in a 2d, "wysiwyg" fashion. Calculus,
matrices, complex analysis and noncommutative algebra are supported.
You can program algebra rules into Theorist.

Theorist runs only on the Macintosh, but we are interested in other
platforms, so send us your comments. It is designed around user interaction,
not around "text in, text out". If you don't like a mouse, you won't
like Theorist.

Theorist is in use all over the world. Professors use it to teach classes,
students use it to do homework, engineers use it to do calculations,
etc. It was awarded MacUser Magazine's Eddy award for Best Mathematical
Software for 1989. Reviews in June and May 1990 issues of Byte, MacUser
and MacWorld.

You cannot understand Theorist, or our mathematical typesetting program
Expressionist, from reading a text file just as you cannot visualize
an animal by looking at its footprints. For more information, I
recommend you request our sales literature.
