Packet Radio BID SCDX2045 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALBANIA--Radio Tirana is now scheduled to broadcast in English: to Europe at 18:30 hrs on 1395 and 9480 kHz and at 22:30 hrs on 1395, 7210, and 9480 kHz; to North America at 23:30 and 02:30 hrs on 6085, 7065, and 9760 kHz; to Asia and Australia at 08:00 hrs on 9500 and 11835 kHz, at 11:30 hrs on 9480 kHz and 11855 kHz, and at 14:00 hrs on 9500 and 11985 kHz; and to Africa at 04:30, 15:30, and 20:30 hrs on 9480 and 11835 kHz. Nuzzi, both in "PLAY-DX", Italy) Radio Nuevo Horizonte, reported two weeks ago, has also been noted at 02:50 hrs on 4518 kHz. La Voz del Tropico has been heard at 01:07 hrs on 4748 kHz. Radio Centenario has been heard around 01:45 hrs on 4855 kHz. Radio Cristal in La Paz appeared as early as 23:50 hrs on 5005 kHz. ("Shortwave Bulletin", Sweden) COLOMBIA--La Voz de la Cana in Cali is a medium wave station that appeared on shortwave in early May. It was heard 23:23-00:50 hrs on 5068 kHz. (Dario Monferini in "PLAY-DX") Caracol in Bogota seems to have taken over the transmitters used by Radio Sutatenza, has has been heard around 00:30 hrs on 5075 kHz, after having used 5095 for some time, with better signals than on 4755. Gaviria) COSTA RICA--Radio for Peace International has been noted at 22:00 hrs on 21567 and 25946 kHz and at 01:00 hrs on 13663 and 21565 kHz. All of these frequencies are somewhat variable. (M. Shanmugasundaram, India) Radio for Peace International has also been noted around 04:30 hrs in English on 21566 kHz. (Jean-Michel Aubier, France) EQUATORIAL GUINEA--The cultural station Radio Dos Mil (Radio 2000), which we reported on some time ago, is still on FM only. This station, set up by Radio Exterior de Espana to promote the use of Spanish in Africa, was earlier said to be on 4950 kHz. But it has not been able to begin shortwave operations yet. (Don Rhodes) WEST GERMANY--Since May 18th, Deutschlandfunk has been broadcasting from West Berlin, 24 hours a day on 810 kHz. This frequency was previously used by the BBC and Radio Canada International. The transmitter was expected to reach about 80 km from Berlin, but it can be heard mornings 300 km away. A stereo FM transmitter is also planned. (Harry Niebuhr, West Germany) Deutsche Welle is broadcasting in French to East Africa: 05:15-05:50 hrs on 7150, 7225, 9765, and 11765 kHz; and 16:50-17:50 hrs on 9735, 11965, 18810, and 21600 kHz. To West Africa: 07:00-07:50 hrs on 11765, 13790, 15185, and 17875kHz; and 12:00-13:00 hrs on 15410, 17765, 17800, and 21600 kHz. (Francois Chalory, France) JAPAN/GABON--Updating SCDX-2043, Radio Japan can be heard with its General Service to Southern Africa 03:00-03:30 hrs from Gabon on 7125 kHz, which replaces 9645 kHz.Gabon is also used to relay the General Service broadcast to Europe 21:00-21:30 hrs and 23:00-24:00 hrs on 11800 kHz. All of these broadcasts are in English. (Reg Holway, England) LIBYA--Radio Jamahiriya can be heard in English 18:00-19:00 hrs on 15450 kHz and 22:30-24:00 hrs on 7245 kHz. NEW ZEALAND--Radio New Zealand can now be heard 09:00-12:05 hrs on 6100 kHz, replacing 11780. (Donny Irawan, Indonesia) SYRIA--Updating SCDX-2033, Radio Damascus can now be heard to Latin America in Spanish 23:15-24:00 hrs and in Portuguese 00:00-00:30 hrs on 15095 and 17710 kHz. These replace 12085 kHz. (Yimber H. Gaviria) TAHITI--Radio France Outre Mer in Papetee has been heard 03:00-05:00 hrs on 15170 kHz. At 04:00 hrs there is a relay of Journal de France Inter. (Francois Guitton, France) UNITED ARAB EMIRATES--The Voice of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi now uses two transmitters in the 11 meter band, heard 03:00-06:00 hrs on both 25900 kHz (heard after 06:00 hrs as well) and the new 25670 kHz. All programs are in Arabic. (Don Rhodes) UAE Radio and Television in Dubai is now operating in English to Europe: 10:30-11:00 hrs and 13:30-14:00 hrs on 15320, 15435, 17775, and 21605 kHz; and 16:00-16:45 hrs on 11790, 15300, 15320, and 21605 kHz.
