(Yimber H. Gaviria, Colombia). COLOMBIA--Updating SCDX-2037, Meridano 70 from Arauca is back on 4925 kHz and was heard until 03:05. HCJB will be back at its previous time 20:00-20:30 for the broadcast in Nordic languages on 15270, 17790 and 21470 kHz from May 7th. (Mogens Jensen, Denmark) WEST GERMANY--Deutsche Welle has added some frequencies to its Spanish broadcasts to Latin America: 11810 kHz at 02:00-02:50 and 15425 and 17720 kHz at 23:00-00:50. (Richard E. Wood, USA) IRAN--English to Europe from the Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran is on 6035 kHz and 9022 kHz at 19:30-20:30. (Jack Kyle, UK) ITALY--AWR Forli is on the air with a DX program on Sundays in English at 05:30-06:00 and 09:30-10:00. The regular service at 07:00-08:00 and 11:00-12:00 on 7257 kHz. JAPAN--Radio Japan has replaced 15195 with 17880 kHz at 01:00. (Tom Sundstrom) NORWAY--From May 7th, the duration of all Norwegian broadcasts from RNI will be reduced from 45 minutes to 30. Up to three separate programm will be broadcast on different frequencies simultaneously dependent on the local time in the target area of each frequency. Half-hour programs in English will continue to be broadcast on Sundays only but on fewer frequencies to enable broadcasts in Norwegian to be carried at the same time. According to the schedule the five minute Monday programmes in Spanish will be temporarily suspended due to budgetary problems. (BBC Monitoring) PAKISTAN--The Radio Pakistan frequencies in use at 16:00 including slow-speed news in English at 16:15 are to the Middle East on 21740, 21580, 17660 and 15605; and to South and East Africa on 21480 and 11895 kHz. (Tom Sundstrom) PHILIPPINES--Radio Veritas has announced the introduction of shortwave broadcasts to Siberia in May. The 250-kW shortwave transmitter built in 1986 for broadcasts to Korea, China, Vietnam and Burma will be used for these new broadcasts. (BBC Monitoring) PORTUGAL--Radio Portugal's current schedule in English is: 03:30 on 6060 and 9680 kHz to North America (East), 03:30 on 9705 kHz to North America (West), 16:00 on 11870 and 15250 kHz and 20:00 on 11740 kHz to Europe. (Tom Sundstrom) SPAIN - RNE in Spanish to Latin America is now on 17715 kHz at 22:05-22:55 (replacing 11775 kHz). (Joachim Maurer, West Germany) SURINAM-Radio Surinam International was heard back on 17875 kHz at 17:00-17:50 with news in English at 17:35 via Radiobras. There is strong interference from Deutsche Welle in German on this frequency. (Joachim Maurer, West Germany) TAIWAN--Updating SCDX-2C38, the Voice of Free China broadcasts in German to Europe at 20:57-21:57 on 11860 kHz (and not 11850 kHz). French is at 19:57-20:57 on the same frequencies (17845, 15440, 11860, 9785 and 9765 kHz). (Uwe Gruner, West Germany). UNITED KINGDOM--The Great North Radio in Newcastle started broadcasting on MW on April 8th. The programs consist mainly of pop music and are on 1152 and 1170 kHz. (John Coxon, England) USA--WHRI has been heard in Portuguese until 22:00, followed by English on 13760 khz with 17830 kHz in parallel. WRNO which is scheduled to use 13760 kHz at 21:00 (see SCDX-2011) remains instead on the frequency it uses at 17:00-21:00: 15420 kHz. (Joachim Maurer, West Germany). WYFR, Family Radio, will be broadcasting from May 7th on 15345 kHz from 16:00 in English, 17:00 in German and 18:00 in Italian to Europe. (Auvo Liimakka, West Germany) WCSN is on 9840 kHz at 06:00-08:00 and on 21780 kHz at 14:00-16:00. (Richard E. Wood, USA). WHRI is on 7365 kHz at 02:00-06:00 with 9495 kHz in parallel. The latter frequency replaces 11790 at 14:00-15:00 with 15105 in parallel. WSHB is on 7405 at 00:00-02:00 with 13760 kHz in parallel, adding 17855 kHz at 08:00-10:00 to 9455 kHz. 9465 kHz replaces 15205 khz at 22:00-00:00.
