Short: Memory5 v1.0 - simple pairs-matching game Author: fbotton@hol.fr (Frederic Botton) URL: http://wwwperso.hol.fr/~fredbt/psion.html Uploader: psion-adm@nic.funet.fi Type: s5/game/think A few words about Memory5 v1.0 Freeware, copyright by Frederic Botton 1997 What is "Memory5"? ------------------ Memory5 is a Series 5 simple pairs-matching game, ported from the game I've written on the s3a/s3c. It is a complete rewrite though, as Memory5 is a pen-driven application. The goal is to match pairs of icons before the clock stops. Memory5 required a 640x240 screen. Thus should work on any Psion Serie5 machine. It should work on Geofox as well (640x320), and any screen resolution larger than 640x240 (though this has only been tested on EpocWorld's WINS emulator). Installation ------------ Create a \Memory5 sub-directory in your \system\apps directory. See below for the files to add. Any drive can be used (internal c:, CompactFlash d: or any other drive). \System\Apps\Memory5\Memory5.app * (main application) \System\Apps\Memory5\Memory5.aif * (icons & info) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\tbar.mbm * (toolbar icons) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\pfmlogo5.mbm * (PFM logo) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\found (sound) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\loser (sound) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\nope (sound) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\simple (sound) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\winner (sound) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\levels\bart24.ini (Level Bart24 config file) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\levels\bart24.mbm (Level Bart24 picture file) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\levels\Cartoon35.ini (Level Cartoon35 config file) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\levels\Cartoon35.mbm (Level Cartoon35 picture file) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\levels\Sketch18.ini (Level Sketch18 config file) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\levels\Sketch18.mbm (Level Sketch18 picture file) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\levels\Symbols18.ini (Level Symbols18 config file) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\levels\Symbols18.mbm (Level Symbols18 picture file) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\levels\Symbols20.ini (Level Symbols20 config file) \System\Apps\Memory5\data\levels\Symbols20.mbm (Level Symbols20 picture file) Files with a '*' are required. The other files may or may not be added. It's up to you! Note that you can use any directory rather than \System\Apps\, but you won't see Memory5 from your Extras bar... Two configuration files are automatically added (\Memory5\Memory5.ini and \Memory5\Memory5.sco) when the game is run for the first time. Warning: Some levels names are stored with long filenames (Windows 95). If you extract them under Windows 3.x or Dos, you'll lose the exact name... Game instructions ----------------- Ok, you've played this game before! The only thing you need to know is that you can place the stopwatch window wherever you want by dragging it. It's place will be stored in the Memory5.ini file. You can choose between English or French language (but you'll have to do it yourself as no localization system call is provided in the basic Opl manual yet). Things you outta know --------------------- Small cartoon characters have been extracted from some free Window 95 icons libraries (www.windows95.com), and various other sources (see credits), sounds from free sounds libraries on the Net. Level design ------------ You can build your own levels. You'll need the source file archive which contains a sample image for a level, as well as a description of the .ini files. Source archive should be available where you got the Memory5 archive. Money talks ----------- That's Freeware. That means you can use it as much as you can without having to pay anything. However, I keep the copyright on the source code and the graphical layout. Please do not modify it without telling me beforehand. The source code is available (see below). Legal stuff to be aware of -------------------------- Feel free to pass this software to anybody you know. Inclusion in any software library, on floppy, CDRom, electronically etc. is very welcome as long as you do not alter the archive. If you're intending to insert Memory5 in a library (on floppy, CDRom etc), please drop me a quick Email (I won't ask for a freebie, don't worry!). That's only to ensure you have the latest version. Please do not charge for more than the usual media & postage fees. I would appreciate distribution of the source archives along this software, though this is not necessary. Warranty -------- NO WARRANTIES WHATSOEVER. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
