Short: HtmlEdit 0.5b - the first HTML editor for the series 5 Author: support@labrat.demon.co.uk (Russ Spooner) URL: http://www.labrat.demon.co.uk Uploader: psion-adm@nic.funet.fi Type: s5/apps/edit HtmlEdit 0.5b ============= Well here it is: the first HTML editor for the series 5. Hope you like it enough to buy it :-) INstallation ============ You should know the drill by now.... Unzip the files: "pkunzip -d htmledit.zip" and slap the files into a directory called HtmlEdit in your"c:\system\apps " directory. Blah, Blah.... **0.5b Should now install and work when installed to drive d:, though you must install htmledit.ini to c:\system\apps\htmledit Oh, yes this does require sysram1.opx to be installed... you should have it by now... ...see my webpage for instructions on how to get this! Usage ===== The Interface is generally quite uncluttered and with a bit of practice can be very quick to use! Most of the commonly used tags have shortcuts, in fact here is a list of all the shortcuts available: Key Modifier Action ------------------------------ n CTRL New File o CTRL Open File s CTRL Save s SHIFT+CTRL Save as w CTRL Import ASCII w SHIFT+CTRL Export ASCII and strip tags e CTRL Exit h SHIFT+CTRL Headings Tags h CTRL Horizontal Rule c CTRL Copy v CTRL Paste x CTRL Cut r CTRL Revert to saved b CTRL Bold i CTRL Italic u CTRL Underlined CTRL Paragraph b CTRL+SHIFT Line Break l CTRL Tag Library q CTRL Quick Tags r CTRL+SHIFT Rebuild Custom Tags Database (registered only) f CTRL+SHIFT Favorite Tags (registered only) i CTRL+SHIFT Image l CTRL+SHIFT Link In order to insert a tag you can either use the shortcut keys described above or alternatively use either the "Tag Library" or "Quick Tags" buttons on the toolbar/menu. The Tag library is big. The tags are broken down into different catagories to make finding them easier. Quick tags offers a quicker way to insert common tags. Favorites is a way of adding tags you want to the Editor (registered version only). Using this you can add commonly used tags, or even invent your own! Using the built in app: DATA you can build a database of tags and then using "rebuild tags" in the menu can have them accessible to the editor! Cool or what..? the Browse button lets you view the Web page you are working on in Psion's editor! -remember to save the page you are working on before using this, or you won't be able to see any of the changes you have made! Under preferences you will see a neat little function called: Use Shortcuts! As you know HTML files are plain text, therefore they do not contain the header neccessary for the system to recognise and launch the file with the "parent" application. HtmlEdit, if you ask it to will generate a "shortcut" to the HTML page you are working on each time it is save to enable you to simply double click on the shortcut and begin editing the page it is associated with! If this annoys you switch the feature off! Wizards: Currently there are 2 types!: Javascript and Frame. Table will be following shortly. Javascript wizard: By selecting this function you will be able to choose a from a selection of scripts (2 in the unregistered version) and change the parameters to whatever you want and have HtmlEdit insert the code in the current document or as a new file. If you choose to have them at the top of the current file you will probably need to alter the HTML to account for the Script: e.g.: there could be duplicate body statements etc.. Frames Wizard: You will be offered with a number of frame "templates" choose from one of these frame styles and work through the wizard customizing them... Once it has finished it is up to you to change the "size" of the frames if you wish, but the rest is done for you! Table Wizard: Is being done at the moment. Import/export Import will place an ASCII/HTML file at the current cursor position. (a good way to copy between other apps and Htmledit until psion release info on their Copy Buffer System) Export will strip the HTML tags (including comments!) from a page and dump the sometimes ugly text wherever you ask it to.
