       USAGE

       aaaaddddjjjjuuuusssstttt

       DESCRIPTION

Adjust the sensitivity knob on the digitizer so the HHHHIIIIGGGGHHHH
dislay is just above a steady **************** display.

The sensitivity of the digitizer electronics must be
performed periodically to obtain high quality images. It is
very important to set it correctly so that it captures the
image with the most force and the least amount of noise
spikes. The correct setting may vary from time to time and
must be checked regularly to assure optimum results.

On the earlier model digitizers, the sssseeeennnnssssiiiittttiiiivvvviiiittttyyyy control is
located on the digitizer control box which is usually
located along side the computer. This control is located
under the bottom plate of the camera head on the newer
digitizers next to the instrumentation cable connectors.
Those of you who have the earlier system should take
precautions to avoid inadvertently bumping the sensitivity
knob while working at the desk.

The sssseeeennnnssssiiiittttiiiivvvviiiittttyyyy control is adjusted by using the AAAADDDDJJJJUUUUSSSSTTTT
       command or menu selection.

Digitizers with serial numbers of 18 and greater turn on the
laser during the execution of the aaaaddddjjjjuuuusssstttt command. The image
of the line on the subject will confuse the command. No
subject or other surface should be in the digitizing space
during the adjustment if the laser is on. For other models
the laser is off and the subject may be present. The room
should be darkened as it is when an image is made. The
worklight, if present, will switch off during the command.

Turn the sssseeeennnnssssiiiittttiiiivvvviiiittttyyyy control fully clockwise. Notice that
the display reads HHHHIIIIGGGGHHHH whenever the knob is fully clockwise.
Now slowly turn the control back counter-clockwise, you will
see the word HHHHIIIIGGGGHHHH be replaced intermittently with the
       symbols ****************.

Stop turning the knob when HHHHIIIIGGGGHHHH no longer appears. Do not
turn the knob any lower, the best setting is the one which
is as high as possible without the word HHHHIIIIGGGGHHHH appearing.
Watch the display for five seconds or so to make sure that

                                  - 2 -

       the control is set properly.

Practice turning the knob and observing the response until
       you understand the interaction.

Terminate the aaaaddddjjjjuuuusssstttt mode by typing the usual interrupt key.
On HP systems this is the SSSSTTTTOOOOPPPP key, on other Unix systems
       this is the CCCCoooonnnnttttrrrroooollll----CCCC key.

       BUGS

On some units the sssseeeennnnssssiiiittttiiiivvvviiiittttyyyy control turns the opposite
       direction.
