  • builder.zip (1740 KB) [Nov 21 1996]

The Fantasy World Builder(tm) is aimed to aid fantasy role-playing game masters in the design of a campaign QUICKLY. Requiring a 386 MS-DOS based PC with 585k conventional RAM, and 2meg of Expanded Memory (EMS), 256 color VGA, and a Microsoft Compatible mouse, the Fantasy World Builder requires little time to get a finished product. Using a graphical point-and-click interface with minimal keyboard use, the program will generate random maps for 2 types of dungeons (natural or cut), cities, and terrain. Whenever a city or dungeon is created, information on the new creation is stored on disk. When a world map is generated, you are given the option to include the previously generated file information in the generation of the world. This allows the computer to randomly place the cities and dungeons in the world. Copyright (c) 1996 Perry Horner P_HORNER@ASU.EDU

  • city216.zip (25 KB) [Jul 4 1996]

City is a spreadsheet tool for country designers. It answers such questions as 'If Freedonia is this size how many cities will it have?' This spreadsheet makes use of formulae devised by Ed Stephan, spreadsheets using them by Burton Choiski and equations added by Juha Vesanto. Quite a few changes have been made but (hopefully) the original ideas are not too distorted. Comments, queries and corrections to: hpttrsn@vossnet.co.uk The spreadsheet in three formats: Works for Windows 3.0 (city.wks), Excel (city.xls, and Lotus 1-2-3 (city.wk1). The 1-2-3 version is monochrome but is included as just about any spreadsheet program should load it. Documentation and examples in file city216_doc.zip.

  • city216_doc.zip (33 KB) [Jun 27 1997]

This is the guide to the spreadsheet in city216.zip in HTML format. Unzip all the files into the same folder. The internal links will work but I can't of course guarantee that the external ones are still valid. Comments, queries and corrections to: hpttrsn@vossnet.co.uk

  • cityspac.xls (14 KB) [Mar 13 1996]

CitySpace is based in part on the doctoral thesis of Ed Stephan on polulations and area. The URL of this document is: http://www.wwu.edu/~stephan/Book/contents.html This Excel-4.0 worksheet is an attempt to back-calculate the formulas in order to provide a tool for generating useful guides for city sizes. • empire.xls (18 KB) [Mar 13 1996]

The Kingdom Calculator is an Excel-4.0 tool to generate a rough, "it feels about right" guestimate about the population of a region based on the amount of land area it occupies. Its basically based on work of Ed Stephan on populations and area. Very interesting reading. • geo-101.zip (142 KB) [Jul 27 1995]

Geo generates fractal maps. It gradually evolved in an attempt to create random, yet realistic, regional maps for fantasy gaming. Version 1.01 is the latest version, and the first to be released publicly. Its primary features are the fractal generator, the ability to load and save map files, displaying the map as a simulated "globe", and various features for tweaking the map characteristics. Geo runs only on 80286 processors or better; it would be ridiculously slow on anything less. You also need around 450K of RAM and VGA capable of displaying 16 colors in 640x480. I use DOS 4.01 and haven't tried it on anything else. Source code is included. Copyright 1994 By Michael Harvey.

  • grid361.exe (--link--) [Jan 23 1996]

GRID by Emanuele Sacchi is a program born to make life easier for all the people who use hexagon maps. Included are some ready settings, but it's easy to create new ones from the scratch. Full Graphical User Interface (GUI), mouse and XMS (or EMS) required. Freeware. Self extracting archive. • hexmap45.zip (240 KB) [Aug 8 1995]

Well, it's been a while since I stopped work on Hexmap, so I'm going to stop requiring people to register. Use the registration number "000014" and all features should be enabled. If you'd like to send me mail, my addresses have changed: email: paul@gyugyi.com snail: Paul Gyugyi 831 Henderson Ave Sunnyvale, CA 94086 I hope you enjoy HEXMAP (a MS Windows program for generating wargame-style hexagonal-grid maps). The last few versions of the code were optomized for color printing, and make heavy demands of memory and resources. If you have trouble running, try dropping back to a previous version, to be found in the "oldversions" directory.

  • mapcad.zip (122 KB) [Nov 18 1996]

Game Map CAD, by Curtis Keisler, is a program that lets you create icons to be placed on hexagon map you create. The icons are created using the simple vector commands, move, draw and line. Once these icons are created they may be placed on a hex map with dimensions you choose. You may view the map in various scales. You may also pan across the map in any direction. Runs in MS-DOS.

  • mgen.zip (180 KB) [Jan 14 1997]

MGEN.ZIP contains Map Generator, a program for creating roleplaying maps. The maps are topographical, but have a 3d outlook. Additionally, there is an easy interface for adding map symbols, roads, text etc. The program is for MS-DOS and requires a VGA display and a mouse. This is the freely distributable shareware version of Map Generator. There is a 'full' version available to registerers that adds a few handy options. Objects marked 'GM-only' dont show in Player view Hex or square grids superimposed Distance tool for measuring in user units Added in 0.2: Printing. (primitive at this point) Smoothing of lines Restore view - return to view when world last saved or restored. Big time bug fix over 0.1 The file can be got from ftp://ftp.servtech.com/pub/users/irony/mapnote/mn020.zip Please note that this is still Alpha - not all features in menus are implemented yet. However it is has all the functions above and is in use in world building. I greatly desire testing for elimination of bugs and ideas in which it can be implemented. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Phil Scadden, Scadden Research 55 Buick St, Petone, Lower Hutt New Zealand ph (04) 568-7190, fax (04) 569 5016
