Hi! Attatched are the scanned-in diagrams in .gif format of the Chinese Refugee Modulars which came in a kit I bought. The instructions are for a swan, but I'm sure other models may be conceived using the same units. The instructions are in Chinese. I haven't gotten round to translating word by word and I'm not too familiar with the traditional Chinese script, (help, anybody?) but here's some important directions to get you started. The paper provided is 2:1 ratio and is about 2 1/4" x 1 1/8" in size. Step 1: Valley fold lengthwise Step 2: Valley fold the corners Step 3: Valley fold Step 4: Mountain fold backwards Step 5: Mountain fold in half so the flaps are inside. Step 6: Completed Unit Step 7: Viewed from a differet angle Step 8-10: How to assemble the units--one inside the other. Step 11: Form a ring with 22 units outside (and 22 inside)for male swan or 18 units for female. Step 12a: Continue the process until model has 7 layers. It'll naturally curve upwards. Step 12b: On opposite ends of the model build up the layers until 16 layers for male and 14 for female Step 13: Don't quite understand this step but I think you attatch a group of 6 units to the sides to form wings. Don't know if you're supposed to take out or attatch 2 inverted units and how. Step 14: Insert 1 unit inside another. This is to form the neck and head. Insert both tabs into 1 unit. Step 15: Continue until 20 units for male swan and 16 units for female swan. Step 16: Roll a sheet of paper into a cone. Glue to head and cut to shape. Step 17: Tie ribbon and glue eyes. I've completed one swan and altogether is required about 260 units. Good Luck. BTW. The other models like the pineapple and Chinese junk also use the same units, just assembled differently. I think if you continue adding layers to the round swan base until completely forms a spherical or oval shape and turn it upside down, you'll have a pineapple.
