While in Fort Walton Beach, FL this past week, I purchased a BackTracker by Revolution. This appears to be a scaled down version of the Rev II. It's also almost within my budget ($89.95). Has anybody flown this kite? Any idea what the minimum wind requirements are? Any help/advice you can give to someone completely new to the 4-line kiting scene. I know my first instinct when the kite gets spinning is to pull one of the handles toward me, but that is exactly the wrong maneuver! I'm going to have to start thinking in terms of forward and backward, slew left and right, and rotate clockwise and counterclockwise. I also told the proprieter that I'd post a message to this group to let you know where his shop is. NOTE: I've got no financial interest in this shop! He seemed like a nice guy, and he had the only Kite shop I'd seen in that neck of the woods, so I thought I'd pass the info on to you (THIS IS NOT FLAMEBAIT!). Get in the Wind Located in Barefoot Plaza 109-B Highway 98 East Destin, FL 32541 (904)654-WIND (904)654-9463 for the telephonically impaired He had an assortment of TRLBY, Calypso, Revolution, and a couple others (~25 kites in stock) and can order just about anything, as well as assorted windsocks, banners, and misc supplies. He's not set up for credit cards yet, but there's an ATM just down the road. (It worked for me.) If you happen to call or stop by, let him know where you saw this notice. He probably won't give you a discount, but I'd let him know that I kept my word. As you twist the lower end of the handle back, you apply the brake to that side of the kite. Andrew -- This is not the account that I usually Email from. The Backtracker probably needs 6-8 mph to begin to start flying easily enough to learn on. Try starting out by flying straight to the top of the window(handle tops back) and backing it straight down to the ground(bottoms in). This is a good excercise. All your actions on the kite are initiated by the bottom lines. If problems with the kite, just contact the manufacturer, Revolution - Joe Hadzicki, for help. They are ready and willing to support their product. 619-274-8824. Practice-practice-practice.
